Introducing Brodie – our new Web Marketing Executive

Hi, I’m Brodie and as of September, I became one of the newest members of the Web Marketing team at Intergage.

I graduated from Bournemouth University with a BA (Hons) 2:1 in Marketing. My degree included a one year placement and I completed mine at Coty Inc – a global beauty & lifestyle products manufacturer.

My position saw me working with two international (and very diverse!) brands – Adidas and Playboy. It was an incredible year, so it was with some remorse – and foot dragging – that I returned to Uni.

Like for any student, the final year of my degree was a busy time.

As well as writing my dissertation I was also a Student Representative, Event organiser and Associate Member of The Creative Enterprise Bureau, a marketing agency based within BU.

I also served pints to the locals in Wimborne, whilst trying to maintain a social life too. So, the icing on the cake for me was winning ‘Best Paper’ for the presentation of my dissertation at the 2013 Promotional Communications Conference – the hard work paid off!

As one of my tutors once said to me, ‘If you want something doing, ask a busy person’.

Another saying is, ‘Work hard, Play hard’, and it’s a mantra I love. You can generally find me at the pub, eating out, or if it’s summertime, knee deep in mud maybe at Worthy Farm staring up at the Pyramid Stage.

I love my boyfriend dearly, but secretly my heart lies with my 3 dogs – Barney, Boo & Daisy. Whoever said “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” was lying; give me a waggy tail over a rock any day!

At Intergage my expert area is Pinterest. I’m fascinated by this platform and love watching it go from strength to strength.

Late 2012 saw the welcome addition of business accounts, and 2013 saw Pinterest hire its first UK employee – confirmation that they are really dedicated to growing their user base over here.

It’s fast becoming an integral part of some business’ social media strategy, and is often described as a ‘virtual store front’. It allows users to browse images – or ‘pins’ – in an environment they are comfortable in, meaning businesses can communicate with them in a relaxed setting.

However the proof of pudding is in the eating! Research shows Pinterest users spend more than double online compared to Facebook users – so maybe it’s time to get involved?

If you want to learn more about Pinterest for business, we are holding many workshops over the coming months – the next one is on 19th November!
